RWE Group, Germany's largest power producer, got approval from the local government to build its planned 2 billion-euro 1,600 megawatt power plant coming weeks in Hamm.
Reuters reported;
"The power station, built in cooperation with 23 municipal utilities, will consist of two blocks. The first is planned to go online in 2011 and the second in 2012.
The approval comes after RWE had to cancel plans to build a power plant in the western German state Saarland in November after local protests."
